About the event

Guided and self-guided tours of Saint Willibrord Church in Gravelines
As part of the 2026 European Heritage Days

The association “Échos et Nouvelles des Rives de l’Aa” is offering a tour of Saint Willibrord Church. This church, whose construction began in the late 16th century—a period to which only part of the nave still bears witness today—features a rich collection of furnishings, some of which originated from the workshops of Séraphin DEBLONDE.
The association will also present the history of the funerary monument to Claude Berbier du Metz, one of the city’s most famous governors, created by François Girardon, Louis XIV’s favorite sculptor. During your visit, we will also discuss other notable figures from Gravelines, whose epitaphs or funerary monuments have sometimes been lost amid the vicissitudes of the history of Saint Willibrord Church.
