For 30 years, the comedian has established himself as one of the most incisive and delightfully offbeat comedians on the French scene. His style, which blends subtlety and boldness, has inspired many generations of artists.
For his eighth show, Elie Semoun is taking a slight new direction: stand-up now plays a more prominent role—a first for him. But make no mistake, CACTUS stays true to his love of characters.
Among his new cast of characters, you’ll meet Jean Abdul, who will open the show; a son who takes his father to visit a nursing home; Xavier, a man with a physical disability who introduces his wife to his mother; a father grappling with his son’s coming-out; a racist karate instructor; and a biting take on sexual harassment and religion.
With *CACTUS*, Elie Semoun offers us a vision of our society that is both profound and lighthearted, navigating between violence and inspiration, where the themes of intolerance, taboo, and injustice are addressed without sugarcoating, yet always with that incisive touch that defines him.
