Take a trip back in time and learn how and why a 13th-century royal castle was transformed into one of France’s first bastioned citadels. -𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐋𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐞 𝐚̀ 𝐧𝐨𝐬 𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐬 : The Opal Coast During the Great War Housed in the impressive casemates of the Citadel, this exhibition traces the establishment of the British General Headquarters in Montreuil-sur-Mer and the strategic role of the rear echelon in this world war. 𝐀 𝐥𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞: The Citadel, a Refuge for Bats in the Montreuil Area The Citadel of Montreuil-sur-Mer is not just a historic site; it’s also a refuge for certain species of bats, including the Greater Horseshoe Bat, which you can see live thanks to our infrared camera.
