Homère Kebab - Theater

Show December 2, 2026

About the event

One night in Calais. A migrant walks into a kebab shop owned by a man named Homer. We learn that Rida is from Algeria and that he crossed the Mediterranean. Unlike Odysseus in Ithaca, Rida will never return to Algiers: he wants to make his way to England. Homère listens to him sympathetically as he recounts his epic journey. Written and directed by Benoit Lepecq. Performed by Melki Izzouzi.

Quixote

Calais Opalenews event

At first, he’s just an ordinary guy. Some people wanted him to become a priest. No, thanks. He’s in love with Dulcinea, who’s a movie star. So he’ll become a star, too. He has no choice. It’s for love. Like all stars, he needs a stage name. Something that really packs a punch. It’ll be Quixote. Because he, too, is on a quest. He, too, believes that the power of the imagination can move mountains. He feels wings sprouting from his back; he takes the plunge. He charges ahead. He’s going to act, to become a big star. A wonderful life awaits him. Toward the heavens, the light, toward the sun and the thrill of it all. He believes in it wholeheartedly. He doesn’t know what lies ahead… Quichotte is a one-man show, a tragicomedy. How can he hold onto his childlike spirit and find his Dulcinea while facing the realities of life? Sometimes funny, sometimes a bit pathetic, this play recounts the epic journey of a dreamer with fragile wings who falls but has no intention of giving up. Cie de la Porte au trèfle. Written and performed by Bertrand Degrémont. Price Category E: €12 | €11 | €9 | €6. School matinee: 2:30 p.m.
