Discovery September 19, 2026

About the event

A tour of the INSPÉ facilities, from the auditorium to the library, including the classrooms and the garden. On the program are four exhibitions: “Training Teachers: What a Story!”—a historical journey from 1834 to 2026 tracing teacher training in the Nord and Pas-de-Calais regions, featuring an interactive virtual survey; “Training Teachers in Gravelines, From Yesterday to Today”; “Life in Gravelines in 2050,” a forward-looking exhibition where students envision the city’s future through maps and scenarios; and “Gravelines Kids Through the Ages,” presented by the Municipal Archives. Also featured is an escape game, “The Douai Normal School for Female Teachers”: in teams of 3 to 5 people, you have 20 minutes to pass the entrance exam for the Teacher Training College, discover the daily routine, classes, boarding life, and extracurricular activities, and earn your teacher training certificate. Register for the escape game at inspe-rps-gravelines@univ-lille.fr. Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. As part of European Heritage Days.

European Heritage Days in Gravelines

Gravelines Opalenews event

In Gravelines, the town’s heritage reveals itself at every turn: behind the ramparts, at the top of the belfry, along the channel, facing the lighthouse, or in the heart of its natural areas—centuries of history unfold here, continuing to shape the town’s identity to this day. This richness stems from the exceptional diversity of its heritage—military, maritime, architectural, industrial, artistic, and natural—which bears witness to the many stories that have intersected in this region. Over the course of a weekend, residents and visitors are invited to step inside iconic venues and take a fresh look at sites they may think they already know: tours, walks, concerts, exhibitions, and events. For a detailed program, reservations, and more information, contact the Pôle Animation du Patrimoine at 03 28 24 99 79 or visit resapatrimoine@ville-gravelines.fr. Information is also available on the Gravelines Patrimoine Facebook page.
