On August 15, 2026, at 5:00 p.m., the town of Wissant will celebrate “Blessing of the Sea – Wissant,” a cultural event that pays tribute to sailors who lost their lives at sea.
The procession will depart from the church and head to the sailors’ Calvary near the Typhonium, where the blessing will take place. This ceremony will be accompanied by songs and will be held in the presence of flobarts, traditional fishing boats.
This moment of reflection and remembrance will take place in a setting emblematic of the Opal Coast.
